Making a difference in the workplace
1. EAPs (Employee Assistance Programmes)
Personal and mental health difficulties among employees often result in various work-related problems. However, mental health problems and stress, that impact negatively on the workplace, can be reduced through employee assistance programmes.
A skilled therapist can help employees to explore the dynamics involved, in order to contain and resolve their problems. Through the EAP, employers can also identify employees with job-related or personal problems at an early stage of their lowering performance.
Contact the Staff Counselling Network (a division of Cape Mental Health Society) if you want to
We provide a professional counselling service that includes the identification of troubled employees, assessment, referral, treatment and aftercare.
We also provide training and skills development, including - Trauma Debriefing - Stress Management - HIV/AIDS support - Retrenchment Recovery - Disability and Retirement Support - Life Skills - Basic Communication Skills for Managers - Conflict Resolution - Training and Support for People with Disabilities, and - Training of Supervisors in identifying troubled employees.
Funds derived from our “corporate” work are used to subsidise our community programmes where our service-users are unable to contribute towards the cost of the services provided.

Training Workshops Unlimited selects its top trainees to take part in fixed-term employment contracts, as a bridging programme between sub-contract work and the open labour market. Through this programme, trainees learn about appropriate work standards in companies and gain valuable open labour market experience. We can send a team to your premises, to conduct any work requiring the skills used in our sub-contracting department. TWU will also develop new skills to suit your company’s requirements.

Our Siyanceda programme is aimed at involving intellectually disabled youth in voluntary community work, in order to prepare them for the open labour market. This programme also provides participants with training that enable them to earn credits against the National Qualifications Framework and ultimately creating exit opportunities for programme graduates in the from of sustained employment.
